New Jersey in a winna Pennsylvania at
the Bucks County

so stick with us as we bring you all the
action next live
[Music]
welcome to the Bucks County Kennel Club
here in beautiful Tinicum Park I am bill
Ellis I’m here alongside Gina DiNardo
for a KC TV we’re excited to be with you
on this beautiful Saturday Kentucky
Derby Day gonna bring you all seven
groups plus Best in Show live all
afternoon so make sure to stick around
for all of the action
we’re starting with a terrier group
today this is my favorite do you know
this is my favorite dog show know that
we’ve been here all day you did it’s
always so beautifui today but no matter
what it always is sunny at Bucks County
it’s beautiful
gorgeous and we’re looking forward to
bringing you some beautiful dogs if 1700
dogs here today and a lot of specialties
great entry entries lots of specialties
there were I believe over 25 specialties
and supported entries today so lots of
really awesome breed entries but the
specialties that are happening over the
weekend too at the Irish Red and White
that our national specialty yesterday so
big entry there today
Greyhound national or sure I saw was
yesterday I think lots of really
wonderful dogs to look forward to this
afternoon should start shortly our judge
her terrier is best Spiker and she is in
the ring
a lot of our viewers will remember that
doing the carrier group at the
Montgomery County Kennel Club last year
that we covered for a KCTV familiar face
to many so we could quickly give you the
order of the groups for today in case
there’s a special group that you’re
looking to see we’re gonna start with
the terrier group and then we have
working sporting birding non-sporting
pound toy and then best-in-show about
the start terriers
did you used to show at the show when
you are handling I’ve only been here a
couple times and I haven’t been here in
a long time so it’s really nice and fun
to be back it’s always like the first
nice outdoor weekend always big
specialties I feel like this weekend
sort of kicked off a lot of outdoor dog
shows the outdoor dog shows season
winter is over
so gearing up for many more outdoor dog
shows we’ve got some really exciting
upcoming events in the next couple weeks
on a KC TV we have three different
national specialties that we’re gonna
have live coverage of we have the Irish
Setter Club of America which starts on
May 8 we have the Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Club of America starts on May 9th and
then the following week we have the
Dalmatian Club of America
fun fly over here at Tinicum park nice
way to kick-off the terrier group thank
you very much here they come
you
most of the terriers were created and
derived from England
they’re very tenacious most were used to
eradicate Behrman two main types of
terriers or you have short legged
terriers like that we have long legged
terriers the short legged terriers in
general used to go to ground and chase
after creatures box then the larger
terriers of tall legged terriers they
hunted larger prey and they had to keep
up with packs of foxhounds during the
hunt
you
brought in the ring and will start
judging best swagger just walking down
the line just taking a quick look get
her bearings see who’s in the ring
you
lots of terrier breeds represented here
today yesterday in nearby New Jersey
there was the Garden State all terrier
clubs so I’m sure a lot of those same
exhibitors are here today in Bucks
County but we’ve got a large entry of
terriers lots of beautiful dogs that
we’ll see
and we’re starting off with the Airedale
Terrier this is
Ernesto Lora handling it and he
has a relationship with Beth either a
business relationship with her and so
he’s not going to compete he’s taking a
lap of Honor and then he’ll be excused
you can see how beautiful the Airedale
is before he was out of the ring yeah a
nice look at Ashton there the Airedale
beautiful lap around the ring and we’ll
move on and get started with the rest of
the barrier
next up is the Irish Terrier
the Irish Terrier is Connor
kua New York being handled by James
Dixon
man I heard good this is what we talk
about as a long-legged Terrier
rectangular in shape
always how this is beautiful coloration
a little racier than some of the other
terriers that we’ll see little lighter
bodied a little bit longer they’re built
for speed and endurance
they’re very smart they make great
watchdog
about typical dense wiry Terrier coat
now now we have the soft-coated Wheaten
Terrier just one of the largest terrier
entries that we had today over fifty
soft-coated Wheaten there’s a specialty
here today
soft or did we is Blaine
Lane is here from Ottawa Ontario Canada
he is just 16 months old a youngster
being shown by Sydney Robinson one of
his breeders and owners
Lane is a younger dog just starting out
his show career but he’s had a lot of
big wins already he won the sophomore
did Wheaten Terrier Club of America
national specialty last year when he was
still in the classes so he wasn’t quite
a champion yet and of course best to
breed at the AAC national championship
in Orlando Florida in December
you
next up we have the Kerry blue Terrier
very happy look at that waggy tail
developed in Ireland very outgoing
playful they make excellent watchdog
they have a soft non-shedding coat
you should have plenty of bone and
muscle
and they’re all there born black and
then they gradually fade out to this
blue color that you see here on Jordan
Jordan is two and a half years old she’s
from Boyer in Pennsylvania
shown by her owner Michelle Brandt
these are really all-purpose terriers
they were hunters and herders they’ve
been used as police dogs in England
great all-purpose working Terrier
you
here’s the bull terrier the white color
variety this is Dylan he’s 10 months old
from a white post Virginia Bull Terriers
of course are shown in two different
color varieties so
same breed standard or both of them and
they’re just have the different color so
we’re seeing the white bull terrier here
Dylan is being shown by his owner Sam
Brown
and he won the breed today from the
classes one though he’s not quite a
champion yet one from the bread by
exhibitor class his owner and handler
Sam Brown is also one of his breeders
congratulations little Terriers very
strong muscular powerful breathe there’s
a beautiful egg shaped head profile
sweet disposition
you
now we have one of my favorites this is
the Bedlington Terrier very intelligent
adaptable
athletic with that distinctive arch
indicates some sighthound relatives in
its
history they’re very unique structure I
can tell this is one of your favorites
because you are you describe them so
well I get excited yeah the description
is so spot-on you’re much when you’re
not here with me I struggle I like
trouble to live up I love the unique
characteristics of this breed
this is Hansol Hansol is from Glen
Burnie Maryland being shown by his
breeder and owner Priscilla Boland
nice curly woolly coat velvety tassels
ears
Ansel was part of the best brace team at
Montgomery County we love last year’s
race competition has been together as a
team
next up we have the miniature schnauzer
one of the Terriers it does not hail
from England Great Britain this is a
German breed very smart excellent at
obedience
you’re very fun if very playful
personalities one of the most popular
Terrier breed
should be active alert curious
this is chilly great name chilly is 10
month old from Attica New York
with his reader and owner of a Cuban
or seize all Chile because his
registered name is champion river songs
old his eyes love the bushy beard and
eyebrows and they always have
great little watchdogs
you
now we have the rat terrier
Sheena’s favorite carrier
as if people heard us to come do
commentary a few times so you know I’m a
wash-and-wear our kind of girl in terms
of my dogs they don’t like to have to
broom so yes I love the rat terrier I
love the proportions I love the
personalities they’re very sturdy and
athletic
they’re so athletic we see them really
successful and other dog likability
this is Saros from Fleetwood
Pennsylvania with his handler head betta
they’re good little watchdogs to they’re
protective of their families they’re
always busy active looking around for
something to do
now we have The Wire Fox Terrier
this is Benny here from Newport Rhode
Island
being shown by Robert Lucy a multiple
best-in-show winner and winner of The
Wire Fox Terrier national specialty as
well
the very brave breed they’re smart
agile
so one of those breeds that went down
the hole after the fox when the hounds
couldn’t get to it got to be brave if
they’re going after a fox you do have to
be brave when going after a fox and love
that they worked together too
work with the Foxhound
you
next we have the Smooth Fox Terrier
you
Smooth Fox Terrier
and The Wire Fox Terrier used to be the
same breed now there are two separate
breeds we don’t always see them one
after another too
you
you
I love the markings on the smooth box
the head they’re always the painterly
way that their their mark is always so
beautiful
this is bandit
from Northfield Massachusetts being
shown by Siobhan Mannion
another youngster he’s just 10 months
old very sturdy breed nice bone nice
personalities are super-loving
I had one when I was a little girl
you
now we get the Lakeland Terrier
another very smart intelligent loving
little Terrier wiry coat come in
different solid colors
named of course for the Lake District of
Cumberland England where they were
developed by farmers
they should be very relatively narrow
because they were expected to squeeze
into rocky dens after prey
have a typical terrier tenacious Ness
strong strong will
this is mystic from Doylestown
Pennsylvania
with his handler Marjorie good her
handler Marjorie good
you
and now we get to look at the Welsh
Terrier on the table this is Blair
all the way from Palm Beach Gardens
Florida
the Welsh is larger heavier bone than
the lakelyn that we decide and though
the proportions are similar
berry old breed developed in Wales
they’re always black and tan they were
used to hunt otter and badger and Fox
Blair just became a champion last
weekend gratulations Blair
you
now we have the border terrier one of
Britain’s oldest Terriers they should be
rather narrow in the shoulder and body
they have this very distinctive otter
type head
and another Foxhound Arthur
very brave should be small enough to
squeeze into the foxhole but large
enough to keep up with a horse
this is posh hashas 3 years old being
shown by her handler Greg strong
from Oxford Maryland
you
if you’re just joining us thank you for
doing so this is our first group of the
day here at the Bucks County Kennel Club
working our way through the terrier
group we’re about halfway through Beth
Swaggart is judging the terrier group
today this is our first of the seven
group investment show that we’ll be
bringing you
and you’re looking at the Australian
Terrier right now
again one of the few Terriers that’s not
from England
the Australian Terrier is from Australia
very all-purpose type dog wasn’t bred
for a particular task they were used for
kill snakes rats they were also herding
herders they’ve been known to herd sheep
and geese they’re nice small sturdy
breed very athletic
this is Augie from Jackson New Jersey a
cute name a great name
you shown by electus am Erato
you
I’ll be here like to float around the
on a raft in summer so I wonder if that
means that he’s to swim or officer maybe
he just enjoys the wrath
this is the care interior on the table
right now
Caryn’s are closely related to Scotty’s
and Westby so we’ll see a little bit
later another rugged no-nonsense Terrier
independent attitude
our head is shorter and wider than most
Terriers shaggy eyebrows and wide-set
eyes a foxy expression
this is Rudy he is 2 years old from
Swansea New Hampshire
a little pose they’re very good
one of my favorite Terrier breed I love
you should get one you were saying
you’re sure you’re thinking about
getting another RINO get along with your
lab
I don’t know that I’m ready to commit to
Terrier grooming
and now there’s a relative here’s the
relative to the Karen here’s the Westie
my husband always calls him the white
west the west highland white terrier a
Scottish breed originally differentiated
by color alone and bred specifically to
be white so they were easier to see out
in the field a lot of spunk and
determination in this little dog
this is Hudson he is just under two
years old from Ontario Canada
shown by Courtney Neola vodka
another best-of-breed winner at the a
hasty national championship last year
and a Best in Show winner as well well
that we watched these dogs throughout
the year competing all over the country
and a lot of them at the end of the year
will come to I call it the big show I
know it’s such a culmination of the
entire year you know the largest dog
show of the year top dogs are all there
eating or the last points of the year to
be top dog
it’ll be on a Casey TV December they
will be exciting lots of coverage from
Orlando in December when we’re there and
here is the dandy den monteri er one of
the rarest breeds that there is again I
love this one the unique shape a series
of curves and those big beautiful
melancholy eyes
this is tasket from Greenwood South
Carolina he is 15 months old with his
handler Patrick Blackmon
they’re a little bit more reserved in
terms of their demeanor more so than
other Terriers not as high-strung so
this is tasket and he has a sister named
tisket I thought you’re gonna say gasket
no but it could have gone either way
I had fish named aluminum in foil good
did your fish know their name
and this is the sky terrier on the table
right now
long low-level breed fearless very
devoted to their owners they should be
twice as long as hi have been very high
head carriage this blossie flowing coat
which is different than most of the
terriers we’ve seen today they can be
reserved with strangers but they’re
super tough and confident you need to
respect this breed for their strength
and determination they have these short
legs that are ideal for digging
this is Dewey he’s two and a half years
old from bear Delaware being shown by
Mike oppa sorry
that kept them warm and protected them
from the damp cold and from bites of
other animals another dog who was best
to breed at the Montgomery County Kennel
Club terrier show last year the largest
terrier show in the world will be there
again this October bring you live
coverage on a KC TV
and now my other favorite Terrier
another uniquely shaped
this is the Glen of Amal Terrier how
could you not love that face what I say
every time but I can’t help myself
because they’re so darn cute so you
another one of the four native Irish
Terrier breed
very scruffy low body Terrier shovin
bear very broad head
they have bowed front legs
lots of substance I say they are
ridiculously cute they were used to hunt
bad during Fox and then they were also
used as turnspit dog they were trained
to turn the roasting meat over the open
fire great substance for their size
and our Dutch best swagger is going over
the Scottish terrier on the table right
now this is cinder one of the more
popular easily recognizable terriers
scotty compact short legged very sturdy
they should have bright dark piercing
eyes a rectangular shaped head
they come in many colors see black most
often
the Wheaton brindle
cinder is two years old she’s here all
the way from Cheyenne Wyoming being
shown by Whitney Shaffer and cinder also
he’s in junior showmanship with her
owners ten-year-old son well Trent will
give a shout out to trends in cinder who
be thinner showmanship
we love that your showmanship is a
special group of classes at the dog show
for hit 9 to 18 years old where they’re
judged on their ability to present their
dog you were quite a successful junior
yourself mr. bell oh I don’t know about
that yes I do
it was best junior at Westminster Kennel
Club should I say the year one of the
strongest and most substantial of
Terriers the nice weatherproof coats
predominantly white
have a long broad head with his lavish
facial hair love that facial hair yes I
do I think it’s so cute love love love
see Liam one of my favorite terriers
this is Bogert from Waterville a New
York
he’s two years old
TRUCKING his stuff out there
here’s your washing weredog Gina yeah –
here we have the American hairless
Terrier one of the newest Terriers to be
registered by the american allah and the
only hairless breed that hails from
america
very smart athletic and agile I’ve seen
a few of them competing in agility
recently
this is –
from Delta Pennsylvania
is almost a year old she’s 11 months
right now
shown by Jill ours Lowe was also her
owner
American hairless is developed from the
rat terrier
and although they’re hairless they still
carry a gene for voted right sometimes
you see coated hairless terrier it is
today we have a hairless hairless it
makes it easier
today my husband was we saw a bunch of
Norfolk Terriers walking down the line
nobody’s trying to learn all the breeds
my husband’s not from a dog show family
and his goal is to be able to recognize
every breed and he’s like how do we tell
the difference between I always confuse
the north bulk in the Norwich so I
always tell them it’s the ears ears nor
fall cuz the for the whole oh I don’t
even do that I do Norwich is w for the
witches witches have got I have one with
the Norfolk so here’s the Norfolk and
you can recognize it by the folded down
ears they are wonderful little breed
smart by ste tenacious real working
little Terrier this is Elton from Exeter
Rhode Island with his reader and owner
Lori militare
and now we have the norwich so here’s
the pointy ears of foxier expression
they used to be the same breed but they
were separated out Norwich
very feisty I’ve had my parents have had
a few
the Norwich Terrier is Isaac
his handler taffy McFadden
the number one Norwich Terrier in the
country and one of the top Terriers and
also was the terrier group a winner in
December at the end of the year at the
AKC National Champion
having a good year this year yeah he had
a big win at the end of last year and
he’s carried that into a lot of success
this year
oh I spoke too soon I said he was the
last one in the group and I was
incorrect
we have the Staffordshire Bull Terrier
this is kyndra
who is four years old from Staten Island
New York
I won’t do it that Nylander too much I’m
bad at the actin Deena’s better at the
act I have an accent from Connecticut
I’ve been told I don’t know if there’s
such a thing Staffie bowls are wonderful
they’re strong they’re brave make great
family pets athletic adoring
so strong so much muscle
great little agility dog
they’re very muscular
that include all the dogs in the terrier
group our judge Beth Wenger has a
beautiful group of terriers to choose
from
if you’re just tuning in this is the
first group contact we have the working
dog the big guys are up next
don’t go away that’s walking the line
she’s gonna make a short list I’m gonna
guess
I’m pulling out the dog she’s out front
of the line again
just point out the soft-coated Wheaten
Terrier first
with Bedlington
a Wire Fox Terrier
the Lakeland Terrier
pulled out the border terrier
the Lakeland there’s the border
here’s the sea Westy
let’s do the sky terior the glint of a
mall there at the end
to Morgan or oh and the Norwich nice cut
a dog’s there she’s gonna take them
around back to where they started
there’s a Norwich
and then our full great picture there
you see the differences
one at a time around
there’s The Wire Fox Terrier on your
screen
the Lakeland Terrier
you
there’s your plentiful mall the west
highland white Terriers gonna go around
and a lot of loss the Westie fanclub
there
one of them all again going around
as the Norfolk area
Ivy norwich terrier
you
I think she’s made a decision
he is walking towards
Norwich looks like it’s going to be
pulled out first
she’s placing them who the Norfolk just
when I think the door–which nor which
one or which carriers Firefox is getting
group to
border terrier it’s just placed third
and the soft Coated Wheaten Terriers
forth of congratulations to Isaac the
Norwich Terrier winner of the terrier
group we’re going to take a very quick
break and be back in just a moment
coming up we have the working group
there are certain breeds that are gonna
be great apartment dogs if you live in
New York City there’s gonna be other
breeds that are fabulous working dogs
for you if you’re out on a ranch a
kc.org is the best place to start
because they have all the information
about any breed you can think of what’s
not to love about this place we all know
how much our dogs love the warm weather
but we also know what comes with fleas
and ticks the best way to protect them
is to start before a problem appears
that’s why as a veterinarian
I trust hearts UltraGuard Pro collar
it’s easy to put on and kills and repels
fleas and ticks
for up to seven months so all you have
to worry about is enjoying time with
your pet I recommend hearts because it’s
affordable and it works so this way in
tick season start with hearts and
protect your pet before they bite we are

and intelligent they were used to
perform tasks for men such as guarding
the family and property pulling sleds
and carts some of them performed water
rescue see them they’re used often by
law enforcement or the armed services a
very lovely group of large strong brave
canines hard judge today it’s Paula
nichael start with a Great Dane
just that the first breed of dog that my
family bought as a family pet and that’s
how we started showing dogs big
beautiful Great Dane what was it like to
live with a dog of the size of a Great
Dane we were little so they were always
smacking us in the face with their tails
but they’re gentle giants they’re very
brave and dignified elegant breed they
must have size and weight no bowling
they were used to hunt wild boar large
game
this is Belize she’s three years old
from Oak Island North Carolina come by
Darlene burger Great Danes had a
specialty today there should be a larger
entry larger entry and of course that
make to leave the best and specialty
show winner for today as well that add
that to the resume congratulations and
nap next we have the Doberman Pinscher
should be a combination of grace and
elegance strength intelligence heavy
bone
say a square-shaped breed which means
you could draw a box around the body and
it’s shaped like a square
this is smarty she’s 2 years old from
Minnetonka Minnesota being shown by
Clarissa champagne Oh
Marissa and her mother Quinn are also
very successful breeders at Doberman
Pinschers past a KC breeder of the Year
Award winner a lot of talent in that
family
next we have beautiful Siberian Husky
bred to run all day pulling lightweight
long distances
this is Nick he is five years old from
Shanghai China

this is Gus three and a half years old
from Frankfort Delaware being shown by
Jayne Hobson bull mastiff meant to roam
the english country estates in search of
poachers would patrol all night for very
loving devoted to their family but
because they were out on the out alone
at night there are independent thinkers
very brave strong-willed a little bit
stubborn that pace
[Applause]
here’s the Giant Schnauzer myself a
minute fish now is it earlier in the
terrier group now we could do the Giant
Schnauzer distinct to breathe the Giant
Schnauzer here is thunder from darien
connecticut be shown by greg strong
one of the few working breeds that has a
non-shedding coat its wiry terrier like
boat very intelligent active very
obedient
Thunder is just starting his show career
here in the United State but he’s been a
very successful show dog in Canada one
of the top dogs in Canada for the last
two years
next up we have the Newfoundland
another gentle giant here the working
group heavy coat protects them from icy
waters in the cold it was a dog that its
early years was used to fall in heavy
fishing nets and pull carts and heavy
loads breeds also been known to carry
lifelines to sinking ship in the seas
where no man or boat to get to them an
amazing breed we often see Newfoundlands
that are black brown newfoundland today
this is Papa cheese
Davo Carver Massachusetts that is a
little bit of a mouthful for me I hope I
did it justice puppet you
next up in the Working Group is the four
ball
excuse me not the Boerboel the tonic for
so another very powerful strong working
breed you can see how muscular this
breed is here this is pepe from kingston
massachusetts with his handler a Lazaro
very intelligent regal dominant guarding
breed should have a large square head
it’s one of the most distinguishing
features
great party and greed
next we have the Akita Japanese Creed
strong say that about every breed and
then working for strong I’m sorry yep
sorry I never repeating theme but they
were used to large game they’re very
powerful it should have heavy bone and
substance a large curly tail
there’s hundreds of years old considered
the national treasure pricked it to
Japan’s imperial family and with an
aristocracy
this is mitten four years old from
Oxford Connecticut we would think that
mittens was supposed to be hunting war
and fair I know after we today all that
hold by the imperial family here we have
make lovely great
next up is the Great Pyrenees belt in
the Pyrenees mountain between Spain and
France flock Guardian breed that double
coat provides protection from the
weather they’re bred to be independent

out in the fields alone to guard the
flock

with a nice life span of ten twelve
fourteen years
this is Dior she has two years old from
Brookville Maryland by Angela Lloyd
they’re very sweet gentle breed
I showed one for a while it was so much
fun one of my favourite working freezed
I’m a big fan one of my therapy
now we have a Leonberger lien workers
are getting very popular family pets
because they’re so smart and gentle they
get along well with other dog great
children they’re good natured Tom
flushes double coat for their size they
should be very graceful in their motion

he is four-and-a-half years old there’s
a nice active breed that the great dog
if you’d like biking backpack
backpacking swimming Atlas is being
shown by Mauricio Vargas
and on his feet for his size just he
should be
but next we have the Commodore
Commodores chords naturally protect them
from the elements and from fights and
kicks of the animals that they are
guarding against to wolves and creatures
like that that would hunt at night with
a flock that they were guarding very
territorial brief they on very strongly
with their families this is Addison
she’s two years old from hallerton
Pennsylvania shown by Ernesto Lara
[Applause]
you could look at those cords there on
Addison that form on Commodores
to see although a lot of the rare breeds
here are represented here today at
County yeah hundred 60 different breeds
of variety so really great and free of
different breed that we’ll get to see
this tuning in we are watching the
second group of the day the working
group we finished the terrier group and

right now another typical nordic read
very active alert tons of energy this
breed with buyers daily exercise or
there just won’t be happy always white
or see some patches of biscuit sometimes
in that coat they’re bred to work in the
frozen tundra and that coat keeps them
very protected so if you love to wear a
lot of black consider this is Apollo two
and a half years old like Dennis Allen
the breed was used to guard tribe to
reindeer and they also pulled sleds and
could be great family dog to accompany
you around wherever you want very loving
free
now we have the Portuguese water dog
another very active breed that demands a
lot of attention from its owners a true
working breed very versatile used a lot
is water retrievers that coat does not
shed it grows constantly so requires
flipping and scissoring to keep it
looking trim like you see today we’re
critical to the fishermen of Portugal
where they were taught to herd fish into
nets and also retrieve lost and broken
tackle super athletic and energetic
breathe very very agile great swimmers

my favorite part about being a breeder
is putting that puppy into a person’s
hands the relationship between the owner
and breeder is really important it’s
something that’s ongoing for the life of
the dog some of them live in my home
some of them I don’t ever want to let go
running around and playing with dogs all
week long
it’s nothing better the most important
thing that you’re gonna want is a
healthy dog when we sell a puppy to a
new family they become part of our
family
we’re there to help them for the life of
the dog dogs camp for us with fresh
breath by tropiclean they don’t have to

income our sporting dogs
you
sporting dogs are referred to as bird
dogs or gun dogs there are four basic
types of spaniels or used to flush the
birds setters and pointers are used to
locate aim and retrievers to do it so it
sounds like they retrieve they fetch
from the water and the land
some are even more specialized to hunt
only certain types of a more work in
specific types of terrain and we start
with very easily recognizable
Center
the Irish Setter
the sporting group is Frank Kane
walking down the line getting his first
impressions of the Sporting Group
come all the way overseas from England
you
you
big beautiful line of sporting dogs they
go through today
you
so our first dog in the Sporting Group
Gina mentioned is Teddy the Irish Setter
from Chaplin Connecticut
a Katy Bernard in this afternoon
very stylish athletic gundog name Birds
glossy red coat should be slightly
longer than tall very sturdy
have a slightly sloping top line
they’re very outgoing and affectionate
work closely with humans they love
companionship
very rollicking temperament
lots of energy
sporting dogs rather than killing or
capturing their quarry are generally
used to locate it retrieve it or both
and because of that they love working
alongside in our adapt that working
alongside man
you
here’s the German Shorthaired Pointer
very high energy breed extremely
intelligent and willing to please power
endurance agility
sent down

climbing the ranks of the most popular
breed there within the top ten most
popular breeds right now
we say this is like the perfect brief
for somebody who’s an avid runner like
the perfect running companion nice size
compact
I love their color I love the liver with
the white ticking I think it’s so
beautiful
great show dog surprise taunting dog

their specialty great time to celebrate
the three that’s closest to your heart

they’re so pretty go beautiful great
Indian great hunters
[Applause]
now we have is this your favorite I know
you’ve showed that but as I showed them
alive such a soft spot for English
letters they’re definitely my favorite
of the setters no disrespect to the
other beautiful centers but love English
letters they’re the most moderate of the
four setters and thighs and in this
position this very even temperament so
they make great companions they make
wonderful family pet but they’re also
wonderful to companion you see those
letters that are very successful in the
show ring hand out for field lots of
field champions and duel champion
because well at the breathe so and they
have such a nice gentle demeanor about
them very very gentle free here’s the
Gordon setter always this distinctive
black and tan color black with those and
point largest of the setters in terms of
body and bone ever your bone right the

be willing to brush but they’re not
brushed that much that coat is is so
curly curls into those those tight curls
so less pressing that you might think
maybe I love them I love the coat I love
the bit dense water-resistant coat I
love the top knot of hair on there and I
love the uniqueness of this green as a
sporting guard that rat tail is so
distinguishing this is Darla hood
he’s 14 months old from Palmer
massachusett they’re very intelligent
quick to learn fun-loving sweet they
were used both to hunt upland game and
wild wild sorry
waterfowl so their dual purpose
here is the flat-coated retriever
this is trouble she was five years old
from Laporte tech this heat shown by
Rachel Hulk this is a lighter and racier
retriever than the golden or the lab
they’re very happy
excellent retrievers excellent abilities
I’ve been told
very sweet and friendly another high
energy green so they need an outlet for
that energy dog pork
I always they’re always having their
tails back and they’re very happy brief
I’m always amazed and impressed by their
sweet dispositions here is the
Chesapeake Bay Retriever all-american
breed developed retrieve in the cold
waters of the Chesapeake Bay and that
very den double coat the water-resistant
very oily dry they’re powerful they’re
heavier boned its stockier than a lot of
the other sporting breeds very
intelligent they are protective and
naturally protective of their family
more so than some of the sporty dog
love that water-resistant coat can have
a little bit of oily texture to it
they are noted for their hardiness
here of course is the most popular breed
this is the Labrador Retriever this is
rock he’s four years old from McLean

[Applause]
here is the benoni italiano native of
course to Italy
Vega
dover delaware feature electric reader
and honor Erica frog
this breed has a unique profile have a
very strong build very thick skin
because he was feeling the skin that
supposed to have a very wiry coat rough
beard
they’re very distinctive looking
those pushy eyebrows and beard of course
of course another dog who will not only
keep them in show ring but it hunts as
well they’re known for their endurance
and their calmness they can be quite
vocal I’ve been told they hunt by air
sensing and tracking no they could be so
vocal mm-hmm the name spumoni comes from
earlier brocco spinosa which means
prickly pointer coarseness of its coat
here’s the German Wirehaired Pointer

Ernesto with a dog in every group so far
this afternoon yes that’s right
he had the Airedale and then he had the
Komondor the welsh springer spaniel make
great companions that are sensitive and
very faithful and devoted to their
families be a little more reserved some
of the other sporting breed you see one
in the Museum of the dogs just say our
director the Museum of the dog has a
welsh springer spaniel
in New York City come to the AKC Museum
of the dog it just recently reopened so
amazing such an amazing space the
collection of art works beautiful with
the new space really special lots of
interactive exhibits as well not much
fun here’s the lagotto romagnolo porsche
water retriever from italy very ancient
goes back to 1400s in fact the very
active and hearty they’re natural
swimmers and retrievers excellent choice
for someone who likes water sports
I like their medium size their
proportions I think they’re fabulous
size companion perfect beauty of sign
minimal shedding easy to care for coat
nice dense woolly coat that doesn’t shed
hypoallergenic so perfect place for
people that are concerned about that
[Applause]
here’s the Clumber spaniel give it a
shake there before the dud go over him
is an endurance breed they’re built for
trotting as opposed to running fast
distances but they have a surprising
amount of the stamina they’re great with
moderate exercise or content with
regular walks their temperament they’re
normally calm and dignified very devoted
to their family this is Freddy from
keyport New Jersey don’t by Kimbra thick
proportion they’re long and low for the
slower rolling eight
[Music]
they’re smart they’re quick learners and
be a little bit stubborn

registered in 1894 code is designed to
protect me from Hemery could be brush
and ink wetter weather they were
developed mainly for my combination of a
cocker spaniel and the Sussex spaniel
nice medium-sized dog
tripper also gifted various sport has
ability title and his CGC title painting
good citizen
everyone should have a CGC title if they
have a dog paint I guess is basic ten
step test shows that your dog has good
manners and behaves well in public
highly recommend they can check out the
CGC toss now we have the English cocker
spaniel or Mary spaniel I say
this country they’re known as English
cocker spaniels and we have a
Chrismukkah force and in the rest of the
world they have cocker spaniel Eric

they’re famed for their soft eyes and
their wonderful expression the nice size

bought so bright shining right on him
I happen to know Charlie though I knew
right well thanks charlie the number one
ask ow pucker in the country right now
sorry Charlie
so I’ve soft beautiful expression those

that were specialized to front foot
and our final dog in the boarding group
is the Sussex spaniel this is scarlet
from Hampton Massachusetts pink shown by
hair or ISMIR
this breed was primarily developed by
one breeder in Sussex England in the
18th century and they’re noted for this
rich golden liver color we used to hunt
and stick edge groves and underbrush so
they’re celebrated for their steadiness
and the determination for bred to who
would follow them on foot so they’re
slower mover than some of the other
sporting brief they should be long low
and massively built typical of spaniels
they should be cheerful and friendly in
their tournament we have the final
Sussex final dog in the Sporting Group
the Sussex spaniel
beautiful group of sporting dogs today

best place to start because they have
all the information about any breed you
can think of what’s not to love about
this space
now that the weather is getting warmer
our dogs love being outside and we need
to protect them from fleas and ticks
that’s why as a veterinarian
I trust hearts UltraGuard crow topical
it’s easy to apply works fast to kill
fleas and ticks prevents blue eggs from
hatching and repels mosquitoes before
they bite so you can feel confident that
your pet is protected for up to one
month
I recommend hearts because it’s
affordable and it works so this flea and
tick season start with hearts and
confidently protect your pet earlier
today really do we light them sounds
were around the show lots of wagging
tails over 1,700 dog started the day
here at the buck County Kennel Club
working our way toward Best in Show we
are getting underway with the herding

ring these are the dogs that were bred
to control the movement of livestock
work with cattle sheep ducks driving
them from one place to another these
breeds are quick agile highly
intelligent
[Applause]
let’s point all of these reach
classified in the APC working through
them to new classification of herding
dogs was made 1983 these breeds which is
debate really cool tasks called the AKC
herding instinct to us to test your
dog’s natural instincts to her no
training required very cool
any of these breathe most of these
breeds I would say retain that natural
hurting and think that they have they’re
very talented workers our judge for the

and people don’t know about sprayer yeah
dog show yeah they were used to hurt
sheep and cattle
another rarer worried that people
probably aren’t too familiar with if
you’re not at the dog show this is the

breed agile wet
arrow one from the classes today
defeating all of the champions
congratulation they also won best puppy
at the Pembroke Welsh Corgi national
specialty last year Pembroke is shorter

smaller ears
often people helps distinguish them from
their tails this is the port tail or Bob

breathe when you get a little more
familiar with them
now we have the Cardigan Welsh porky
larger and heavier bone than the pepero
larger ears

congratulations to Tony the German
Shepherd dog before we go to break here
we’re gonna take a quick look a little
closer look at the Bucks County kind of
love
very stand-alone show we are on our own
Grouse have been here for a long time we
really feel at our places in the
community we want to connect with our
breeders with the you know the public
spread out over Tinicum Park the Bucks
County Club dog show showcases a wide
range of breeds 160 varieties
and that will go to seven roots
the best of each group which is what a
lot of people probably see more on
television than read
be professional I think we’re sporting
dog territory a lot of hunters up
a lot of bird dogs and we have a
wonderful setter entry pennsylvania in
general is great for carriers we have a
month on montgomery Kennel Club which is
one of our sister kennel clubs is a
little further down county but this is a
big area for the sporting breeds and in
a house one dog will be crowned out of
the eighteen hundred dogs and that’s a
big win for the person at the end of the
day it’s a community of friends family
some old some new coming together for a
wonderful event we’re educating our
community as a result for good dog
ownership and how to be able to pick
dogs that fit with your family be able
to talk to people is this kind of breed
for us is it good with kids or not and
we are still that corner so we’re very
proud of that it’s a great experience
it’s fun experience if it particularly
if you find something that can be a good
match and you know we have a lot of
folks in the various breeds that want to
perpetuate what they’ve been doing and
help people get started the next
generation
there are certain breeds that are gonna
be great apartment dogs if you live in
New York City there’s gonna be other
breeds that are fabulous working dogs
for you if you’re out on a ranch a KC
org is the best place to start because
they have all the information about any
breed you can think of what’s not to
love about this place Newhart’s home
protection quilted plus dog pads have
pockets quilt pockets trap wetness in
the center unlike standard quilting that
allows it to spread and flash dried gel
technology locks it in to prevent leaks

Roy not only do they have to have a
blue-black tongue but they have to have
a very rough standing coat and the face
is described as having a hippopotamus
puzzle this puppy they are just full of
wrinkles and then as they grow older
they tend to lose some of the body
wrinkles but the wrinkles always remain
on the head and shoulders
all-purpose farm dogs have good
musculature the agile

you’re agile raised in Tibet raised by
the Tibetan monks for centuries they
found their way to other nearby
countries as gifts
here is the French Bulldog the most
popular breed in the non-sporting group
now they’ve grown in popularity year
after year for their heavy bone and
those trademarked back ears the back
should be slightly rising over the line
I called it a roach back large square
head wonderfully affectionate we have a
french bulldog documentary on ABC TV and
then meet the brief series and we we

group the sporting group was won by the
Pointer the German German Shepherd dog
won the herding group and we just saw
the Dalmatian win we’re gonna take a
quick break and be right back on AKC TV
to start the Hound group my favorite
part about being a breeder is putting
that puppy into a person’s hands the
relationship between the owner and breed
is really important it’s something
that’s ongoing for the life of the dog
some of them live in my home some of
whom I don’t ever want to let go running
around and playing with dogs all week
long it’s nothing better the most
important thing that you’re gonna want
is a healthy dog when we sell a puppy to
a new family they become part of our
family
we’re there to help them for the life of

look at some beautiful sights sounds
from around the dog show today
beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback deers that
trophy everyone wants that best-in-show
trophy and we’re starting the Hound
group with the Afghan hound
the Hound group this afternoon is being
judged by IDI from Columbia Missouri
most hounds share the common traits of
being used to hunt non feathered game
they’re divided into two basic
categories we have our scent hounds and
our sight hounds
pounds use
they’re cute sense of smell to track
their game while the sighthound have a
gift of eyesight to find and run run
down their game
you
you
a Afghan is very intelligent independent
not necessarily obedient they have his
very his air of dignity
kind of aloof sometimes very prominent
phone
they’re back and their shoulders is
naturally short
this is PJ
from East Hampton Connecticut he is nine
years old
shown by his owner Terry Evelyn
breeched move with its tail and head hi
giving appearance of style and beauty
Terry and I grew up together do you know
that I mean a crib together when we were
about two years old yep
my parents got their very first Great
Dane from her father Joel Rosenblatt Wow
a family sport known some of these
people for my entire life
you
next up is the Saluki
rumor has it Jena DiNardo and the puppy
was ready to go with you there was a
there was a definite bonding moment
there they’re a highly prized hunting
dog throughout the Middle East
their instinctive hunters they have this
long narrow head they should graceful
and dignified they are built great speed
beloved companions of the Pharaohs dogs
belong to the desert tribes at least
they’re considered sacred and slept in
the sheiks tent
this is Demi she is a nine and a half
years old being shown by her owner Scott
pile
I could see myself with a Saluki I
totally could I think you would go very
well with a salute
there’s too many dots right here’s my
new saying is this there’s not the
perfect dog breath there’s too many
there’s lots of perfect dogs for people
they just do the research and find out
what traits are most important to them
the grooming or the exercise personality
so many great breeds
another great breed here we have the
greyhound so recognizable this is didi
she is five years old from Hana Pro in
New York being shown by Leslie hand pot
the Greyhound Club of American national
specialty was held I believe yesterday I
think it’s coming up coming up today so
supported entry so there’s lots of
greyhounds here don’t hope don’t quote
me on that it could have been yes okay
but it’s this weekend let’s go safely
say it’s this weekend or thirty fleas
don’t mail
34 greyhounds
fastest breed of dog a very high prey
Drive built for speed they’re a pack dog
by nature so they get along well
generally with other dog
they’re intelligent
long narrow head that they’re known for
beautiful greyhound
here’s the Barrow hound up in the Hound
group
ancient breed
this is Paris it’s one of the oldest
most one of the oldest domesticated dog
they always have this rich chestnut
color very gentle spirit they’re
graceful powerful super fast
maybe I’m totally devoted to their
families
you
Paris here is three years old she’s from
a wad worth Ohio being shown by Bram
Miller
Barrow hound national specialty in 2018
you
nice free sack there Paris nicely done
you
when the Pharaoh hound is excited or
happy their nose and ears will blush a
deep red very cool trait about this
brief I love that they bless me too one
of my favorite back
next up is the Irish Wolfhound
I love the Irish Wolfhound they’re
amazing
big strong powerful
built for speed and strength they have a
great light sound like structure they’re
a galloping hound and years ago in the
woods of Ireland there were Elks and
these elk were so tall they were over
six feet tall the shoulders and these
dogs were used to hunt those giant elf
there are also used to wolves
but as pets they’re gentle giants
graceful they’re peaceful and quiet
around the house we had an Irish
Wolfhound neighbor in New York City of
all places apartment living and his
owner would take him out a few times a
day for long walks and runs and where he
was very happy to lay on something soft
the rest of the day in the apartment
next up is the beefin hound
dear like years they have an even
temperament sharp vision they’re from
the Mediterranean they hunt in groups
for rabbit and their springiness allows
them to do spectacular leaps you need a
high fence if you’re gonna have this
breed or keep them on a leash
this is iris she is 4 years old and
today is her birthday how old is she
4 4 4 years old this is her breeder
owner and handler Sarah Murphy and thank
you for letting us know Sarah we like
knowing stuff like that
the color is white or spread or any
combination
if you watch a KC TV a lot you will see
that there are some beasts and hound
puppies that we run sometimes in other
shows one of them yeah and iris here and
Sara iris is the first breeder owner
handled be thin hound to win a Best in
Show that’s quite an achievement
and now
the Scottish Deerhound which coat type
is looks very similar to the Irish
Wolfhound large rough-coated they were
very unique personalities they’re gentle
at the same time they’re supposed to be
very regal my fun fact that I just found
out about this breed General George
Custer had deerhounds I did not know
that know this
he actually had a deer hound with him at
Little Bighorn oh wow this is violet she
is five years old
be shown by her owner Shawnee sir pony
there are sighthounds but they also have
a great ability to scent which they used
when they were tracking these giant
Scottish deer that’ll wait like 250
pounds big creatures
a lot of birds to go after the deer that
codes pretty easy to care for it just
requires a little bit of brushing
another regal creature here we have the
borzoi used to be known as the Russian
Wolfhound large similar structure and
shape to the large Brahe hound to
coursing hound and by sight have great
speed
they used to have in Russia they would
have these elaborate hunts with over a
hundred people and all types of dog and
the boars were used to catch the wolf
and they would pin it down till the
hunter arrived and then they’d let it go
back in the forest it was a sport more
than anything then they would chase it
again yeah they would just chase it and
then they catch it and let it go
this is Galen he’s three years old from
Westbury Massachusetts
poor zora are usually white with another
color such as lemon or tan gray or black
you
they’re so beautiful
you
here’s a very new breed just recognized
by the AKC January 1st of this year this
is the as a walk
from northwest Africa a very elegant
tall dog should be a standing rectangle
they’re very lean though they’re their
lean muscles sometimes their ribs show
through that’s normal and expected
because they have such lean muscle mass
this is Tara she’s three years old from
Philadelphia Pennsylvania
this breed was used to her and block
guard they hunted gazelles they’re built
for speed they can run up to 40 miles
per hour
they hunted in packs and they’re very
protective of their family
he’s being shown by her owner Aaliyah
Taylor who tells us that Tara here like
to treat her home as her own personal
agility course by jumping over every
piece of furniture in the living room at
least twice it’s great that we’re seeing
one because they’re so rare in their new
take Casey
they’re so strikingly beautiful
next up is the Redbone Coonhound
this is Gunny he’s four years old from
Gillett Pennsylvania
thanks shown by his brewer and owner
Tammy Rogers
American breed
comes from the southern United States
always has this beautiful deep
reddish-brown color they swift and
courageous they were bred to hunt in
various terrains from swamps to
mountains
love those long hound ears that help
collect the scent when the dog is
hunting bundle it up to the nose of the
dog when they put their head down and
featured where in your favorite book
right where the Red Fern Grows my
favorite books when I was a little girl
everyone should read it
love it
now the protein-rich back bridgie
love this breed I have 100 partial or as
a big Rhodesian Ridgeback specialty
today over 69 or 69 rhodesian Ridgebacks
I tried to take a photo at one point
when all of the champions came in /
Vesta breed and I did take one that I
sent to you yes and I should have waited
two more minutes because they were still
coming in and they actually build the
entire ring it was like gene has a rich
picture I had to take this panoramic
photo on my phone to get them all so
topping all 69 rich back today was Musa
he’s four years old here from Ontario
Canada be shown by Lauren meadows
it’s his owner as well
big strong breed agile so fast bred to
hunt game and guard the home and family
they’re wonderful
here’s the English Foxhound
which is a fairly recognizable breed I
would think they’re depicted in lots of
different artwork but a rare breed not
very popular
energetic bred to run all day
typical pound coloration this tricolour
we see the pock down to the beagles
color this is whiskey three years old
from Catholic Connecticut Katie Bernard
gentle easygoing with it actually came
from a pack of foxhounds that don’t fit
Virginia

beautiful so impressive never seen it
Google some pictures
[Applause]
this is the Norwegian he’ll count up
next this is chase from Winfield
Pennsylvania he’s three years old
there’s Spitz type head they were bred
to track boost through the snowy forest
in Norway they worked ahead of the
hunter and when they found a moose they
would trap it in the underbrush of bark
as loud as they could until the master
again yeah are you telling people that
they need to be ready for a little bar
to learn for sure the breed is strong
and clever they’re born black and they
lighten as they grow to develop this
gray silver
strike the black that runs down his
shoulders have to call the harness
just known as the harness mark for elk
oh well that’s what they call it
so all the things we’re learning today
here’s the blood house
what happens one of the more
recognizable hound dogs strong and
resilient they drop their head when
they’re trailing a scent and all the
wrinkles and the ears form a cup around
the nostrils and fill the scent upwards
towards the note amazing dogs very
helpful to search for lost people he’s
extensively a search-and-rescue dog

where they would run the weapon straight
to 200 yard dashes
Lizzy here the Richards name from Brazil
greed is built for speed watch them run
as a thing of beauty they’re so athletic
so fast a whippet forcing national
championship last year if we cover it on
a KETV so pull that up on demand it is
so cool oh it’s so cool are not familiar
with North forcing you can really get a
nice feel for the sport and good
overview and are familiar with school
for things then all the more reason to
go watch it right watch the best of the
best out there

the country right now they have a soft

to the Bichon family bred in Havana Cuba
and they were Street dogs so they had to
be friendly in order to survive because
they were in order to be fed they had to
they get the attention and affection of
