now let’s describe some characteristics

she’s extremely affectionate I mean it
doesn’t let right now but when she’s
tired when she was relaxing withers and
she’s just chilling she’s extremely
affectionate she’ll lick you should
sleep next to you she will hug you
cuddle with you looks right now that
she’s a bit of a teething monster but
she’s not biting my hand at all if she
was you’d know because I was saying how
but it’s nothing like that she’s
disrespect in terms of like friendliness
can’t quite friendly I would say she’s
very friendly with other dogs with other
people she is not too sure she is a bit
curious with dubious not too sure what
the intention of the person
oh so if someone comes quite close to
the couch and I better start barking or
shows down she’s staring is quite a
quite a persistent theme she was there
are a lot of people just probably just
to see what they’re doing just sees
they’re coming closer just to keep an
eye on them kinda thing kid-friendly
at the minute she’s still a puppy so she
doesn’t completely understand how to
behave around kids yeah
see I see she’s closed because she had
had some time around some kids but I
wouldn’t be able to leave her as like a
nanny dog she’s not she’s not really
there yet however if you’ve got
dachshund that’s nearly 2 3 4 it’s all
you bad a lot of time with them you’ve
got great communication with them you
know that very kind of calm relaxed dogs
then they can works perfect nanny dogs
as well she’s a very good alert dog so
if there’s anyone coming towards the
house that kind of stuff
is she think there’s something wrong
again she was just thought she’ll stop
barking and notify me which I love I can
tell you one of the incidents that
happened was me and my friends were
sitting in the park
my friend tell us he of Doberman my
other friend’s kitchen Amira they owned
two golden retriever caddy spotted
someone running over to greet the dogs
know that kind of stuff
and she didn’t like it she didn’t like
the way people they were approaching or
that they were coming too fast so they
she just didn’t know them and you’re
approaching us so ok start barking
which I found great I find that very
useful because I actually notice people
were coming towards us so I’m glad that
she notified her she let them know as
well that look don’t touch me because
I’m barking right now I don’t really
know you as much it is the
responsibility of the owner to kind of
train the dog on how humans should be
approached you and should be dealt with
but at the same time it’s going to be
Bob lovers we need to know and we need
to learn how to approach dogs that kind
of stuff so it varies obviously it
depends what kind of dachshund you got
some people will look good some ducks a
little love people Kylie’s not much of a
people person she’s a lot more dog
person I’m not saying she doesn’t love
me that’s not true obviously she really
is very affectionate to me like a
blackboard mentioned but with new people
she’s a little bit skittish she can get
quite scared but she does come back to
me in that sense if she does get a
little scared
I’m sure I’m going to be able to get
used to other people whether it’s just
giving food to other people they’re just
letting her having nice interactions
we’ll have to see how that lets go next
on to exercise needs with Kali I
don’t do that much exercise and I’m
gonna explain why she’s a puppet right
now so yes she’s gonna have a lot of
energy and yes I’m gonna get all of that
energy out of her I do walk up I
normally walk in the mornings just to
get all of the any additional or excess
energy out just before she kind of eats
her meal in the morning exercise wise
I’d say about half an hour maybe 45
minutes it really depends on how active
they are how energetic they are I mean
we’re going for walks out much longer
well go for walks at half an hour or two
hours and weekends if we’re going to go
to that fear or we’re going to a park
and we all have regular times so Tiny’s
loves a good hike every now and then
she’s good with incline climbing she
stays quite close to us we lead and yeah
I’m really happy with with the progress
that we’ve made so far and I’m really
happy I got a dachshund actually because
I wasn’t going to get one initially I
was interested in bigger breeds
something I miss a lot about something
that it’ll be more intelligent a lot
bigger is kind of while I was looking
for but I am so glad that my wife
convinced me to get dachshund we made
the right choice
we’ve got a dog that’s got that will fit
our lifestyle needs that has an Exercise
need that’s not too high we play with
her a little bit within the house as
well just to get again excess energy out
to do some training just to get her
attention or as increase the
relationship a little bit but at the end
of the day she is a puppy she’s gonna be
doing silly things sometimes she will
get things wrong and the hardest thing
is just not getting frustrated just
trying to keep your car and keep you
cool no matter what they do no matter
what accidents may have happened whether
the peed in the house pooed in the house
yes it’s an issue yes is a problem by
hitting the gun you know solve anything
by it
turn them off unless you’ve gone in the
act all right after you’re not going to
be doing anything if you’re going to
tell them off three four minutes
afterwards it might not link so the best
thing to do is just always try to keep
an eye on your puppy if it’s the first
kind of couple of months you’ve got them
until you built that initial
stage of communication when they can let
you know look I need to go to the toilet
now I need to need to go outside this
kind this that in the other I think just
keep an eye on try keep them in the same
room as you if you need to in the first
one keep a leash on them just to make
sure you can control their environment
make sure they’re not buying anything
they’re not supposed to be buying and
yeah it’s just general puppy maintenance
but it can be a lot of hard work and
you’ve got to be prepared to put the
work in if you are gonna get a new puppy
Callie so I’m gonna move early yeah now
I’m going to touch on one that is a bit
of a weird one for me so tendency to
bark this dog loves barking so much I
don’t think you can understand any
opportunity that she gets so in the
beginning you’d be like someone walk
past the house or just any noise she had
if it was a rustling of a bag I mean if
if I touch the fine it would be insane I
do anything and you just be scared and
be not too sure what’s going on so what
I found work really well for me is just
getting her used to noises just get used
to noises familiarizing with all the
sounds and get her into places or get
him into places where they’re going to
be experiencing new sounds and they’re
gonna have to be challenged because that
is the only way they’re going to learn
there is one thing actually there is a
there’s a code not a bag like a
recycling bag outside in the garden and
it’s full of just kind of tools and
equipment Lika this than the other every
now and then wind will blow over it’ll
rustle and carry a good look so what I
know by that is she’s gonna start
barking she’s not sure what’s going on
she’s not really happy with the
situation and she has a bit curious she
wants to find out a bit more so what I
will do is I won’t tell her off until
it’s shut off this that know that
nothing like that just a small
correction that’s it
I know that sounds crazy a lot of you
would be like that doesn’t work my dog

they have that attention back onto you
so let’s just say Kylie’s Kelly’s got
her toy right now let’s just pretend
this is the bag she’s barking at it I’ve
got the she’s got her attention on that
right now if I tell her stop stop stop

you know thank you yeah very good
can you tell you that snowbird on fire
and the last thing you want to do is
just keep shouting at them say stop stop
walking it’s not walking so you’ve
become less and less effective every
time you say the command and if you’re
not the best of trainers yet just
because you’re trying to get the hang of
it you might be using the command and
they’re not following through we’re not
following up with it so you’re just
saying stop stop stop stop stop
why sitting behind the dog like I all
right now stop guys okay she’s not
listening to me at all right now
so if I want her attention I need to get
her attention
there we go you know I broke
there is nothing with this knee as I
mention she box a lot it’s very annoying
he didn’t get a dachshund we prepared to
either listen to barking for the rest of
14 fish or you train her to bark anyway
one more thing that I’m going to touch
on is the amount of shedding so as you
can see okay is a long-haired dachshund
so she will shed can’t see here it’s a
few bits and bobs of hair like come on
very good she doesn’t look like that
much of a large coke but it’s quite
thick it’s doesn’t look thick right now
either because it’s summer cold
you missed a bit of a puppy so she under
full force on the coat but it doesn’t
look quite thin right now
but that’s because she’s just lost most
about winter coat a lot of its just come
after a long summer so far in my car and
yes she does shed quite a bit I mean
she’s not going to show
hey she’s not going to shed anywhere as
much as like like a German Shepherd or
something that with a really long coat
but she saw quite a bit of shedding come
you know I love her ears very much but I
just watching you because they look like
they dip dyed black immunity
