Arnold the Rottweiler Day 2 – How to Train Your Dog
hey folks today we’re training Arnold
this is day two for Arnold first
exposure to the place board right before
we start a film and he took his first
step on it yes you see the hesitation
we’re looking for all four feet on yes
so I’m gonna really charge up this place
board so that we can yes work the place
boards just such a crucial tool in dog
training yes he has a total of four dogs
at his house including him so there’s
three other siblings we have not done it
down yet I was just seeing if he would
do it watch yes really working on his
focus as you’re gonna see in another
video that we post after this one
his brother Arnold you can see this dog
is super hungry by the way but his
brother are vain I should say the
English Mastiff good boy has something
called Charlie Brown syndrome it’s just
something I made up it’s the term for it
I don’t know what else you would call it
but watch that video and I explain to
you what the Charlie Brown syndrome is
it’s it yes
so the place board really allows us to
teach a bunch of things it’s like a
crutch right now I’m going to use the
place board to teach the the stay so
what this will be the first time this
dog has probably ever been told to stay
stay good good stay stay nuts
sit stay good good stay so the place
board gives them something to like plant
themselves on watch yes stay good good
stay if I didn’t have that place board
he wouldn’t be staying stay good
so we got a market the minute that they
break no pay stay good good stay so I’m
getting further and further away there’s
something I call the three DS as they’re
learning a concept sit yes distance at
which they do the maneuver or in this
case how far away I can walk on the stay
the duration which in this case the
distance and duration are kind of tied
in good stay and distractions so right
now I’m asking him for a little more
distance sit it’s a little more duration
but as you notice there’s not a lot of
distractions right now eventually we’ll
build in some distractions maybe put
some food off to the side
throw a toy but during his stay he needs
to stay right stay so the hand command
really helps stay good stay I’m marking
it good
good I like what you’re doing keep doing
it yes good stay good boy very nice sit
watch
yes his his focus command is pretty good
we’ll try to add a little distraction
remember we talked about the 3ds so I
want his focus coming in boy so hungry
sit good and so here comes the
distraction on the watch command first
I’ll get a good one watch yes so the car
added a little distraction I’m gonna use
my hand watch no just watch just watch
yes very nice
he’s doing really good with that and he
actually has a little bit of healing
that we put in already we imprinted some
of that so stay first thing I’m gonna do
before I ask him to heal I’m just gonna
ask him to come to me so when we’re
working something like the stay his stay
will get better if we increase his years
think of them as like opposites the the
more you can teach one the more you can
teach the other I can’t teach his here
unless he has a stay other because he
just follow me around so just good sit
yes so we’ll do one more stay and then
we’ll start working the the here’s stay
it’s a good stay there’s a good looking
dog let me tell you a nice big head yes
the boy now will try if we have an
overworked to stay
on here come on
yes good boy walk backwards as you’re
paying them and then right into a heel
position whether he knows it or not yes
he might go on that place board on his
own just because we’ve been charging it
up yes yeah this Alicia’s tying him up
he’s kind of self-correcting as he walks
on it yes OOP freebie now we’ll just
test my theory I’ll put him in a sit and
we’ll see how his stay is stay he should
do it a little bit but if I get too far
away he might break ah see already
breaking because there’s no place for it
good watch yes stay
so it’s a little too much too soon but
we’re doing it for the free folks at
home to watch and learn
stay good stay they got at that time
watch yes
stay nope back
stay stay good stay jump liberal use of
my hand
uh uh uh because he doesn’t really know
what stay means sit but the hand is kind
of good just stay and we’ll use a little
bit of the pinch collar to to give them
all kind of a reminder what we’re
looking for a little leash pressure he’s
such an oaf good watch
that’s nice stay
good stay
stay good boy good stay
watch yes
stay
good stay that’s a good boy paying him a
few pieces there cuz I know that was
difficult for him alright let’s see we
get him on the place board place you
guess the boy to get them all the way on
let them figure it out maybe a little
luring to get him on yes good boy just a
little bit of steering watch so the only
thing we have to really teach them is a
the down we’ll save that for another
video maybe this evening watch this
because it’s just a little boring so
what we’ll end this video now and we’ll
check back in maybe later this evening
with teaching him how to down we just
taught his brother had it down but he’s
missed out on that but he’s done more
healing than his brother so every dog
needs a little something different and
stay tuned because we’re gonna bring
Bane out the English Mastiff that’s one
years old leave it watch yes and I’m
gonna show you what that Charlie Brown
syndrome is and just to put it in
perspective watch his focus on my eyes
watch good Oh a little distraction over
there’s someone walking watch right here
killing me killing me there we go good
good watch yes so he has no problem
engaging me with eye contact watch yes
obviously we can continue to work on it
through distractions such as that but
when we bring Bane out you’re gonna see
a a little more difficulty with that so
well in the video there thank you for
watching make sure to LIKE share and
subscribe and stay tuned for the next
video with a with his brother Bane see
on the next one come on buddy yes yes
yes that’s good
in a place
