Australian Shepherd Q&A – Why Do My Aussie’s Ears Stand Up?

and this is Luca and today we’re going
to answer some of your aussie questions
today’s question is from instagram from
at Duda MFC and she says hi sage I was
watching your videos on YouTube about
your Aussie I’m going to own one in a
month so exciting and my question is how
does his ears stay up so the answer to
this one is actually particular to my
dog Luca her ears are actually smaller
than the traditional breed standard of
Australian Shepherds requires so most
Australian Shepherds that are purebred
their ears are going to come up and fold
over and a really adorable puppy like
look but luca’s hers are just a little
bit smaller she has a purebred
Australian Shepherd but her ear just
never really grew so they never folded
over there is a surgery that is commonly
used with dogs such as Doberman and
pitbull that is a surgical way to make
their ears stand up but I don’t really
support that I also don’t support
docking off these tails but I didn’t
really have a choice when I got Luca
because I already it already happened
before I met her but that does exist
which is why you may have seen dogs that
have super standing up ears and have
wondered why are they like that but I
wouldn’t recommend that for your Aussie
but that’s why Luke has ears are like
that I get a lot of questions about what
she’s mixed with because people think
she’s part husky or they guess it she’s
husky because of her ears like that but
she’s actually a full Fred offi
