Beginner Dog Agility Competitions- Bee-Line’s First Dog Agility Fun Match
it was a busy shift at the fire hall
yesterday and I’m busy night last night
but today I’ve got to get to where kale
is and today’s a pretty exciting day I’m
at the Six Nations agility Club for B
Lions first agility fun match

so beelines not the only dog we’ve got
that’s doing this agility fund match
kales actually running rad and funky as
well now I missed Funky’s percentage for
this monkey of a second run she does
okay so we’ll probably get to see her
some footage is really good in the first
one so why would you bring beeline and
rad and funky to an event like this um
it gives me an opportunity to get my
dogs on equipment that they’re not used
to which is really important for a dog
like behind because she’s a baby and
it’s all I’ve been training win scenario
funky spin on many different pieces of
equipment because he’s married level but
I just wanted to get a chance to like
bring her out and reward her and like I
have a huge competition coming up in
just a couple months and there’s really
no training that I need to do with her
it’s more about like attitude and just
getting her feeling good and till I know
I’m just rewarded or a bunch Larrick
chomp at her baby and she’s oh it was
great
next up will be little B lion and I’m
pretty excited to see her in her first
agility fund match
[Music]
so that’s kale scrambles to get funky
ready it’s a busy day when you’re
running three dogs for cowboy what did
you think of V Lions first fun match run
was really fun yeah
she her eyes were bulging she looked
like she’s having a blast she was really
good though like she listened Wow and it
was really happy with her I think we’re
gonna have a fun little time together so
next dog up funky monkey

what you think he’s gonna do in this
tunnel of course looks like the dogs are
having a lot of fun I feel she’s gonna
go through a lot of tops yeah that’s it
alive and have a blast doing it
[Music]

what do you think yeah she did great I
think fun
she’s very excited but she just listens
likes everything and I loved that you
could call her off the tunnel and I did
spin with her so that she’s not focused
on the tunnel necessity because her
genes are that tunnels are like
ingrained in their brain yeah yeah we
have to work on being able to take them
and then also not take them mm-hmm good
girl B I’d say that was pretty good miss
I think I think B lion enjoyed that yes
I do you what advice would you have for
someone who is getting ready for their
first agility fund match you know is
there any advice you have for someone
who’s trying to work on something
what sort of opportunity does an agility
fund match present well it gets the dog
a chance to practice equipment in a
different location it gives you an
opportunity to put them in a trial like
experience but then be able to train
through things my advice would be to to
do just that I think it’s a good idea to
take the opportunity to repeat things
reward break things down I know with my
more advanced dogs I would you know do
more full courses and reward little
pieces that I liked and correct things
that I didn’t like you know if I wanted
better performance on the contact I had
a chance to you know address it and go
back which I can’t do that in a
competition with her I just broke
everything down I’m well aware of what
her strengths and weaknesses are and I
went in prepared to help her be
successful yeah in all of those moments
and I think was such a unique training
opportunity in the environment that you
plan on working in yeah I mean it’s it’s
one thing to to practice but it’s not
good if you’re not practicing
productively so you know if your dogs
going in and they’re not ready to focus
and stay with you and work with you you
know they might not even be ready for a
fun match yet so fun matches are all
about having productive training
opportunities sure yeah it’s about
working smarter rather than working
harder
