Bevill Dog Behavior – Consultation – Berkeley the Vizsla Puppy

we have a consultation today it’s a
three-month old visa love puppy which is
one of my favorite breeds the owners
having a little bit of a hard time
communicating with the dog and creating
a calm mind the dog controls the walks
completely has no leash skills is on a
harness
sometimes just shuts down and won’t walk
at all we’re just gonna do dog
psychology 101 we’re gonna teach the mom
a basic way to communicate with a dog
through energy body language touch space
and sound when I touch a dog here like
right where is it yeah we’re out such a
dog here right on the deck or even under
the chin it’s not to correct or punish
it’s just not the arousal process to
stop it training a puppy versus an
already grown dog we’re really in
prevention mode so we’re teaching the
human how to raise the puppy the right
way to create all the right associations
and the right communication methods and
creating a calm balanced follower dog
versus creating a lot of bad habits and
maybe ending up with an adult dog who
doesn’t function very well in the human
world so we want to get the human dog
relationship off on the right foot teach
the human how to communicate with the
dog in a way that she understands and
how to lead the dog through the
different development phases so that the
dog turns into a really nice mature
adult dog who has freedom through
control freedom through good
relationships so that’s what we’re
looking to do with a puppy prevent bad
behaviors raise the dog properly and
open up their world so it can be as big
and free and fun as possible for the
lifetime of the dog
