Dog Agility Exercises : Dog Training Obstacles: The Tunnel
The next thing we’re going to cover is the
tunnel. The tunnel comes in different sizes
anywhere from eight to twenty feet. The best
way to start the tunnel is to take it down
to its shortest length and have the owner
at the other end with some treats to encourage
the dog to go through. So you would have someone
holding him an one end and the owner would
coax him through at the other end. Argo, come.
Good boy! Lots of praise. Keep it nice. This
can be a scary obstacle for them. Switch them.
You can go progressively longer and longer
but your end result, you need to have it at
it full length. This is not a full length
tunnel. This is only an 8 inch or 8 foot tunnel.
And how you would get him to go through after
training them is, tunnel! Good boy! Same thing
with the chute, you want to get their attention
the second they go through. As you’re training,
you want to take them with you. Have your
treats. Tunnel!. Take them through. Meet them
at the end. Good boy! Lots and lots of praise.
