Dog Pulls & Jumps When Approaching Other Dogs : Dog Behavior & Training
hi this is Justin share dog behavioral therapist and master trainer at bark Buster’s home dog training and today I’m going to talk to you about what to do when a dog pulls and jumps to another dog so in terms of how to actually execute and stop your dog from pulling in what end and jumping towards other dogs you have to get into a training program essentially that establishes control really in a nutshell what you want is your dog to walk attentively of you by your side and really stay attentive of you under any circumstance that’s the true gage of leadership if your dog jumps and or pulls it really boils down to improper education so it boils down to leadership and again your dog should be walking attentively of you as the leader because the leader always leads if the dog poles are jumps again you want to use that growl tone the BA to essentially get the dogs focus to let the dog know that the jumping and the pulling is unacceptable and then when you redirect the dog and get the dog’s attention and acknowledgement of the correction you praise good boy and then therefore you uh you solidify and you encourage the right behavior so through the praise ultimately what you’re doing is you’re solidifying and reinforcing the behavior that you want so it’s not about punishing it’s not about anger it’s about correcting your dog’s unwanted behaviors in the Act which is the BA and essentially redirecting the dog to you and once the dog acknowledges the correction that you don’t want it to pull that you don’t want it to jump then you give lavish praise to encourage and solidify the behavior that you want again I’m Justin chair dog behavioral therapists and master trainer with bark Buster’s home dog training [Music]
