Dog Training: Back Away
to teach a dog to back away all you need
to do is put your dog right in front of
you and take a step forwards into your
dog space forcing your dog backwards
slowly start increasing the distance and
reward when your dog gets it right once
your dog has got it
all you need to do is add a hand sign
and a verbal cue I use back take smaller
and smaller steps forwards until your
dog can do it without you having to step
forwards at all Roxy has never done this
before so I’m starting it from the
beginning with Roxy she doesn’t quite
understand it yet so she tries other
things to get the tree if this happens
just be patient and only reward your dog
when she gets it right now I’m starting
to make my steps forward smaller and
what I’m aiming to do is have her do the
command with only the verbal cue

keep rewarding when your dog gets it
right so he knows when he’s doing it by
once you’re sure your dog gets it try it
in different places so you can do it
anytime anywhere
