German Shorthaired Pointers at a driven shoot
lots of time is spent on a driven shoot
waiting for something to happen so being
patient and attentive is important and
handlers need to find their dog’s on/off
switch it’s a useful training time I
keep a short distance from the dogs and
what she lacks to light carrot here in
the foreground extremely closely so that
the slightest sign of her moving or
whining gets corrected in addition I’ve
put the game bag next to her as a
deliberate temptation so she tries to
steal anything from the bag she can be
checked there is much to be learned on
these days and one could always make use
of some waiting time
[Applause]
there was nothing to pick up on this
Drive but marking steadiness and
obedience were all improved and we
watched barn owls and herons fly past
and even a muntjac
which came out as some cover to surprise
the dogs
