Bella and Jorge are best friends
Bella Burton is a young girl with a very
rare progressive disorder called more
Gio syndrome it causes her body to
produce less of a major enzyme which is
necessary to help her grow it also makes
movement very difficult for the little
girl she’s only 11 years old and
eventually she’s going to need help
doing just about everything in her life
well that’s where George came into the
picture
George is this giant dog and he
approaches the little girl in a hospital
bed now keep your eye on Jorge’s back
Dulla was weak and she had to use
crutches or a wheelchair to get around
on her own while she didn’t complain
about that she did want to do more when
the Burton family heard about the
service dog program they wanted to learn
more about it it’s a nonprofit
organization located in Ipswich
Massachusetts it provides service dogs
for the mobility impaired and Bella’s
mother decided to go down to the office
to see a Bella would qualify to have a
service dog in order for them to qualify
the family had to volunteer with the
organization for a year before Bella
would be considered for a companion it
seemed like a very long time but Bella
believed that it would be worth it if
she can walk around without crutches in
a wheelchair it would be her dream come
true Bella and her family had been
volunteering for close to a year when
she met George George was a two-year-old
Great Dane and he and Bella bonded
immediately as soon as the two met her
parents they realized that she was
finally ready to get a service dog
Bella’s parents say that Bella loved to
be around the dog and she looked forward
to the days that she was scheduled to
volunteer her parents realized that a
service dog like George would change
their daughter’s life with
before George went to live with Bella
her parents and the head of the
organization saw the bond between the
little girl of the dog she’d sit by his
kennel and never want to leave that’s
when everybody realized that they should
give Bella and George chance together
when George went home with Bella they
became like two peas in a pod Bella
would hold on to George so that she
could walk without the need of crutches
or a wheelchair
George would stay close to Bella because
he knew that it was his responsibility
to help get her around the two became
best friends and they did everything
together with Jorge’s help Bella had
been able to strengthen her muscles she
is now able to walk much matter she can
even ride a bike when she does do things
on her own you can be sure that George
is close by just in case she needs his
help not long after the two became
inseparable Bella and her family wanted
to show George how much he was
appreciated there’s a website called
bark post the site acknowledges dogs who
go out of their way every day for others
Bella’s mother filmed Bella and George
while they were playing she posted the
video along with the caption on bark
posts Facebook page and her post read
just loved this video of these two it
shows how much George cares for Bella I
could have taped much longer also at
first Bella was so scared about having
George run next to her because she
didn’t want to crash into him and have
him get hurt I told her that George
knows to stay away just like when we use
the wheelchair George keeps his distance
and he did he wanted to stay right with
her and keep a close eye seeing their
bond grow more every day is an amazing
process in just a couple of days the
post was shared over 61 times and had
768 likes over 70 people left
inspirational comments on it bark post
realized how amazing George is by
spending his life trying to help another
person so to show their gratitude they
treated George to his best day
best day ever is a reward that is given
to dogs who truly deserve it the purpose
of the day is to do things that George
loves to do the day began with George
Bella and Bella’s mother checking into
the copeley Hotel in Boston and they
arrived the staff was lined up along
with other dogs who had won the best day
ever award
George truly got a hero’s welcome after
checking into the hotel the trio went
out for lunch George is not usually
allowed to have human food since he’s a
service dog but since it was his best
day Bella and her mother bent the rules
a bit the Hotel Restaurant cooked ten
hamburgers just for George he didn’t
like the bread and he pulled each burger
from the bun before eating next on the
list of fun things to do was to go
sledding George loves the snow so Bella
knew that he would love that part of the
day a local ski resort closed down the
day just so Bella and George could have
the entire place to themselves George
ran and played and went sledding with
Bella until the two were completely
tired out the next stop was to a gourmet
dog treat shop according to Bella it was
like a candy store for dogs George had a
chance to try everything in the store
Bella says they even found a George
sized bone for him after their big day
out they headed back to the hotel where
the surprises kept coming the room was
decorated with balloons and there were
toys for George spread all over the room
in the bedroom there was a huge George
size bed Bella says that it’s hard to
sleep in her bed with George because he
is so big she also said that it was hard
for them to find a bed large enough for
him finally George had his own bed the
bed even came with a pillow shaped like
a bone with his name on it it was the
greatest day of George’s life when the
family checked out of the hotel the next
day they were told that there would be a
thousand dollar donation in George’s
name to the service dog project
Bella’s family believes that George does
so much every day
fella and he should be recognized for
