to know how much it costs to live with a
Doberman and Ryan I’m gonna tell you
that’s a lot more difficult question
than it sounds
because it’s all subjective how much it
costs you to live with a Doberman is
really dependent on how you take care of
the Doberman and the area that you live
in because some areas have more
expensive vet bills than others every
dog is unique it’s just like every
person some are going to be healthier
than others and how you treat him and
how you take care of him is gonna be
reflective on his health and the health
bills so assuming that you get him
plenty of exercise that he’s not exposed
to unnecessary danger and things like
that that’s where this video is going to
be focused and I live in southern West
Virginia so we’re know from from where I
live you may want to research your local
area and your your vet bills and things
like that there are a lot of factors to
consider so here we go

food it’s probably the most common
question I get
and food is again relative if you want
to feed him a raw diet you can get
pretty expensive you know getting raw
meat from the grocery store and in
vegetables and things like that it can
get pretty expensive I hate to even
question that and you can give an
estimate of that because it depends on
where you live how much does it cost
now if you want to feed him kibble
kibble in the area of you know a fifty
dollar bag of dog food is a pretty good
dog food for $50.00 for about 50 pounds
40 to 50 pounds of dog food and lasting
about a month
average we’re talking with the good
stuff we’re talking with the stuff that
the meat is the first ingredient and
things like that and you can substitute
with some eggs and some meat that you
pick up every now and then so on the
food in deputies Manning is so you know
the question is so far that it could be
from $75 a month to $500 a month I
depending on how you go if you go with
one of the organic food sources that are
all natural for him pre-prepared from
the internet you get into quite a bit of
money
but I want to say to be safe budget for
about a hundred bucks a month to feed
him on the food so that’s my guess guys
guys guessing yourself and maybe correct
me and maybe you’re a part of the
country that with a mixture of kibble
and some fresh fresh foods in there I’m
gonna go 100 bucks
foods not where it stops though cause
you’re gonna want treats he’s gonna want
treats
you’re gonna need incidentals leashes
collars
we like harnesses we like to put a
harness on him gives us more control
these on everything there’s going to be
damage you may have to pay a deposit for
where you live so you never you never
know about the deposit where you live
now there’s gonna be some damage you
know not a lot but he’s gonna consider
potty-training damage when he was
learning not to be in the house no crew
still has a problem that way he’s upset
with us when we go into the other room
we don’t take him with us and he gets
upset with us and you’ll be in the floor
you’ll do it he knows what’s wrong he’s
immediately sorry for what he’s done and
it avoids the area altogether that he’s
done it empathy no trouble but yeah so
there’s that so I’m gonna say just as a
safety rule put back 25 $30 a month for
incidental damage to your home I’m gonna
say yeah 1015 dollars a month that’s
average you know the fur leashes collars
things like that that he’s gonna need
you want to start a fund for serious
health issues you know because there’s
all kinds of serious things that go
wrong with all dogs that needs some
serious event attention dental work and
things like that that may run in the
thousands of dollars so just to keep an
emergency fund for this guy is the right
thing to do because you don’t want him
to be suffering in some terrible way and
you can’t do anything about it you can’t
help him so you’re gonna want that you
can want to do this in the same way that
you would for a child but put the child
at least the government will step in
with a medical card should your
financial situation get terrible and you
can still get help with a dog usually a
vet if you can’t afford the treatment
for this dog that that one isn’t seeing
travel vacation things like that those
cost extra if you need to fly
occasionally with your dog it’s quite
expensive and can cost more for your
dog’s seat than it does for yours for a
large dog if you can find an airline
little let it fly at all you also have
to be aware that pet friendly hotels are
not as easy to find
if you see from our other videos and our
travel videos we like Motel 6
because Motel 6 is very good with their
dog policy that it will charge extra and
they don’t deny because he’s a large
breed dog like a lot of hotels do they
just don’t let you have a large breed
dog in their hotel and I understandably
because of damaged things like that yeah
he’s done a little bit of extra damage
to our house he’s clawed around the
doors wanting out and nothing you know
terrible he hasn’t worked couch cushions
and things like that but also been known
to do that fleas ticks and tests and
worms heartworms these are all things
you need to be concerned about if you
want a nice happy and healthy life with
your dog now we decided on Trifexis we
pay about $200 for a six month supply
and that includes the vet visit I would
love to be able to give you a
straightforward answer and say it’d cost
this amount of dollars to keep this dog
at your house I can’t do that because
it’s not that kind of thing
it’s so subjective on so many different
levels and what you do with him hurry
we bought a side-by-side to take him for
rides $7000 we paid out for this ATV
because really we wanted to take him up
and let him run in the mountains and
enjoy it and we can’t keep up with him
if he really enjoys it and we love and
love watching him do it now was the side
beside purely for him no but would we
have bought if it wasn’t for him no so
you know it’s a mixture of things it’s
the thing that you need to decide before
you get him or her can you really afford
it and can you afford to do this in the
way that you want to it could be a lot
cheaper than we do it sure it could but
the way we enjoy him the way we want to
treat him it’s it can get pretty
expensive and it’s really even hard to
tabulate he’s spoiled to the point that
when we go into a store and we leave him
waiting in the vehicle that he expects a
treat he expects something in that bag
for him and we like that you know it’s
something that it’s childlike about him
that gives us joy there are things that
our dogs give back to us in return in
health benefits that are very hard to
measure blood pressure just overall
general well-being and happiness that’s
gonna be really hard to measure what
you’re getting back so when somebody
asks how much does it cost to keep a dog
like that man I don’t know I don’t think
anybody really knows it’s so difficult
to calculate
