How to Train Your Dog for a Rally-O Show : How to Practice for Rally Obedience
Hi so now we are going to get started and
we are again going to be working with Ursula.
When we first start practicing you probably
want to practice with your dog on leash just
so you can keep them with you and reinforce
them for doing the right thing and we got
just a little mini course set up here. We
got 5 little stations plus our start and our
finish and one thing you need to know to begin
with always keep the stations on your right.
So right now I actually have them turn so
they are facing you so you can see them but
normally they would actually be turned facing
me the person who is approaching. So we are
just going to start right here once we have
pass this start sign we have actually be done
and I need to have the dog on a loose leash
so I need to be controlling her with my voice.
I’m going to try to give her either a verbal
or a visual hand signal for each one of the
exercises but again we are doing some training
here with her so if she doesn’t do it the
first time I will ask her again which you
wouldn’t be able to do in competition. So
we would start with the first one which is
360 to the right and what that is you actually
make a full circle going towards the right
that means that the dog is on the outside.
Ursula are you ready let’s go this way up,
up so I’m keep the leash short, this way and
I’m getting her to come with me with my voice
so we would go to the next one which is just
moving in a slow pace and now we got a right
turn. This way and we come up to the next
one which is a halt which means sit your dog,
leave your dog and do a recall. Ursula watch
me sit, good girl okay wait. So I gave her
one verbal and then I had to give her to visuals
in order to get her to do that. Now I’m going
to put her in a stay, leave her and do a recall,
good girl, good job. I come to the next one
which is sit and a stand. Ursula sit yes good
girl and stand. Good girl and I leave this
and go to the final one once we pass that
we are finish.
