How we cloned our dead boxer dog Dylan
that’s the freeze there where Dylan’s
body is and he’s still in there because
we’re doing the garden when it’s done
we’ll all need to bury him at that point
which is gonna be our fault I’ve not
even got my head around the fact that
he’s gone yeah and I find it
embarrassing telling people I’ve got my
dog in the freezer but I have got a
valid reason but even though it’s a
valid reason I’m still long in the
freezer anyway if I’ve been that were
valid reason because I’m not ready to
like pat with him yet and I thought I’d
go in and they were looking and stuff
but I never I’ve never been in just that
far corner we’re gonna put Dylan’s body
and get him a headstone and everything
and then bury our future animals there
as well on the 30th of June
Laura’s boxer dog Dylan died Laura lives
with her partner Richard and their
remaining four dogs and 11 other animals
in sales than Yorkshire where they will
soon welcome
two more puppies cloned in South Korea
by a controversial biotech firm
we are a bit dog bad we’re a bit animal
mad
we don’t go out socializing much with
all about drinking we’re both you
absolutely love animals I mean as a kid
I’d just had all my dog books my dog
DVDs and all my Teddy’s on my bed if so
look through my books I think I need
that one and modern need that when I
need that one oh my god that’s ten I
need to drill it down to five five the
maximum I know organelle six now but you
want my rescue center though yeah yeah I
always said a tiny house and mother
garden I thought one bothered about
Dylan was Laura’s first leg but aged
eight was diagnosed with an inoperable
brain tumor and given between six to 18
months to live you know I’m a bad bad
thing in his body or everyone loved in
him yeah everyone I met him just loved
him it was just the softest archiver
like the kids are climbing his basket
and fall asleep with them and you could
just trust him 100% yeah however just 18
days after his diagnosis with cancer
Dylan died from an unexpected heart
attack when it happened I was in total
shock I can’t feel my limbs it was like
hype into needles everywhere apart from
I couldn’t remember where Pat McCarrick
couldn’t think about anything all these
people Reverend tell me if he had to
have got today six to 18 months I think
I would have had more time to get my
head around the fact had a terminal
illness I just didn’t know how I’d be
able to cope I thought I’d like to throw
myself off a bridge or something the
worst thing in my world I’ve dreaded for
eight years of a month in 23 days is it
happened and there was no way that I
could I could comprehend that how much
do you love your dog an unusual
competition is about to find out
this south korean biotech is offering
one british family a chance to be the
first in the country to clone their
beloved pooch
last year the game show the 60,000 pound
puppy on channel 4 brought the
controversial South Korean laboratory
saw an biotech research to wider public
attention I thought I’ll just see maybe
it’s come down in price I mean it was
about sixty thousand pounds and I
remember saying to you oh my god it says
you can do it after the diet there was
no way I was gonna expect anyone to
spend that amount of money and you were
like you know let’s do it let’s at least
try they can star the cells in liquid
nitrogen for years in the years and I
thought just knowing they were there and
I could have another genetically the
same copy of Dillon and you know that
I’d probably put my mind to which we
said you know let’s just see what we can
do it was really hard but I had to just
totally block out what I was doing and
just think right it’s a job that I need
to do then we’ve got all the cells
packaged up that night I booked a flight
for him and he flew out five o’clock the
next morning
the back walk around the escalators and
my bag out of there big security tag on
it
swagger Malhar up saying oh my god and
when they wondering if who’s gonna get
in trouble like we didn’t think we’ve
done anything wrong but I just thought
you know I forget confiscated I’ve got a
mum that would do literally anything in
the world for me I mean you know I’ve
lost Dillon but I’m so lucky then it did
make you know me feel a bit better they
had a look at them and they just let me
go and I couldn’t believe we got through
and the Korean firm was that waiting for
me yeah and then we told us that the
other worked and went through the
procedure again by the time the second
samples arrived Dillon had been dead for
12 days way beyond the previous five day
record for regenerating genetic material
I remember getting the email to say
we’ve got brilliant news everything we
did was wrong and it still worked we’ve
verified a second pregnancy oh my god
what is this like we couldn’t believe it
I’d run you up and I was like oh my god
this is too
despite the controversy surrounding
cloning the couple are adamant that they
have done the right thing I think I’ll
just see it as light Dillons puppies but
they’ll have 100% whose DNA instead of
50%
however it’s like the next the next best
thing the life I share with these dogs
it might be fairly similar but it’s
never gonna be exactly the same
yeah is a controversial topic that will
be people that don’t agree with it
there’ll be loads of people that would
absolutely love the opportunity to do it
I do agree with cloning organs for
people who need new organs and giving
them transplants and stuff and if they
could clone limbs people who I think
anything like that solutely amazing
I just think it’d have a really adverse
effect on a human but they live in the
moment do dogs
