MY MINI AUSSIE NIGHT GROOMING ROUTINE! | UNWIND WITH COPPER!
you enjoying this yeah I’m pretty comfy
yeah so copper sleeps in his crate he
doesn’t sleep in my bed we do have a
little ritual every night where he is
allowed to come in my bed for a little
while and my brush um we chitchat but he
does sleep in his crate which is right
next to my bad it just has always worked
out better
there’s never a time that I have to get
up specifically when he’s in his crate
he has to wait until I get up and I’m
ready to take him out and I really like
that also I just cannot get a good
night’s sleep with a dog in my bed like
he when he’s in his crate
he’s quiet as a mouse but if he’s in the
bed and he hears something outside he’s
up he’s down he’s looking all around and
that that just doesn’t work for me so we
have here a washcloth because I really
want to clean his eyes which I generally
do every day sometimes twice a day now
because he’s gotten these tear stains
which he really hadn’t had I was
thinking that I really did away with
those one mentioned in my comments that
it could be allergies so maybe it’s the
time of year but in any case we are
going to wash his face cuz that does go
a long way making a big difference and
we are going to give him a nice brush
out which he really enjoys let’s go good
boy good boy and what a good dog yeah
clean your eyes I always tell him what
I’m doing because he can associate that
he knows what’s coming you know they
don’t know what we’re gonna do with them
and it can be kind of scary
and so I always say you clean your eyes
I give him a treat for that but
obviously since I’m upstairs in my
bedroom I don’t have any treats to give
him but we give him praise and he likes
that just fine too we of course didn’t
we look a little bit worse after I do it
because they’re all wet so they’re a
little bit even more noticeable but um
yeah we’re working on it if anybody has
any tips for us or you deal with this
too please let us know in the comments
what worked for you so I’m gonna brush
him a little bit first before I get
going with the tooth brushing because
this really relaxes him and he really
enjoys it it’s a nice way for him to
settle down it says we know he can be a
little rowdy and rambunctious I’m gonna
take his collar off because I feel like
they have to wear these all the time and
it’s like oh my gosh you know having a
necklace or jewelry on all day and all
night and you have to sleep with it and
I would hate that so I like to give him
a break from that give him a good
scratch cuz it’s got to be really tiring
to always have that on and obviously I
always put that back on in the morning I
never I never really even let him out in
the backyard without that copper is
microchipped but still but even still so
this side doesn’t really get out a lot
of hair so if it’s shedding season I
would use something else and this side
is kind of useless because it’s really
more like a human hair brush the
bristles aren’t close enough together to
relight the fur out but this one is
really nice for at night because at
night it’s really more about bonding
and relaxation and also this is really
the brush that I used to get him used to
this in the first place I’ve talked
about it before but copper had quite a
bit of touch sensitivity when I got him
he a prehensile to be touched he would
shy away particularly if I tried to pet
him or anyone for that matter over the
top of his head he didn’t like that I
think there’s so I hope he’s made it a
point to really try to touch him a lot
what a good boy you are look at you
you know I have a lot of people asked me
about shedding so I do try to answer
that question quite a bit and as I said
before copper sheds a lot less than I
was expecting this is because his coat
is really not that sec some Aussies have
like a really thick double coat and as
you can see that’s not the case with
copper you see the armpits you know yeah
and even here you know he just doesn’t
have this super thick coat and so you
know he definitely sheds but he’s still
with you did you tell me you again not
sure I think he’s really liking this
copper at first also was that dog that
definitely has a more dominant streak
and he would not just roll over for
belly rods he’s got a really love you
and trust you to put himself in a
vulnerable position like that I know a
lot of dogs are just very submissive and
they just roll over as soon as you go
near them and little Quincy my chihuahua
is like that but not this guy so it’s
really nice to see him to see him like
that last um but the update I did we did
a little haircut or maybe it was the one
before last
do a little haircut on the back of this
this unruly fringe that you’ve got going
on and I can see we’re gonna have to do
a little trim of that again it’s so
funny it goes so much longer than
anything else like he doesn’t have a lot
of feathering on the back of his front
legs nor on the back which they really
don’t
but generally they definitely have more
than he does on the front legs which I’m
not complaining about like I said that
means less cleanup for me with the hair
but this back just just has a mind of
its own so we’re gonna give that a trim
soon we gotta get the other side you
know we gotta brush your ears actually
you’re first looking a little rough he
was outside today and I don’t know what
he got into I think it was behind the
shed kind of up to no good and he came
in in his face was all dirty so we’re
gonna we’re gonna give him a bath on
that’s gonna be a riot because copper
has had one one bath since I have had
him yes and that was in the late summer
when he tried going in the pool and I
figured this will be the time to give
him a bath and I’m gonna justify that
right now by saying these guys do not
have a doggy odor I have said it before
chime in owners of Aussies because these
guys do not have a doggy odor they must
have like zero dander I used to have a
golden retriever which is the most
dander producing doggy odour dog breed I
believe that there is and probably the
biggest shutter where you will just have
tumbleweeds in your house no copper
never has a doggy odor
do you never have a doggy odor okay guys
so how many times have we talked about
brushing coppers teeth on his puppy
updates and such and although I’ve
bought toothbrushes for him we have not
actually ever brushed copper his teeth
yet so
this is the most recent one that I got
him you could see it in his little puppy
Hall that we did recently a topper

copper’s you’re not digging yourself a
bad you’re not ears just staying here a
little bit okay good what’s good about
this hmm
kinda interesting well it smells super
minty not bad what is let him just chew
on this brush just to pee I’m not oh
that was not a girly action is that too
minty oh he does not like this you know
I think it said oh I’m sorry
it’s like I don’t trust you I’m sorry
copper how do you feel about this one
okay I feel so good he just sneezed
three times in a row because of that
other toothpaste

vanilla oh uh I feel like he doesn’t
trust me that’s so sad I’m sorry okay
guys so we have to go to plan B I just
came downstairs
and I know what I’m gonna put on this
brush Timmy ate a bunch of chicken in
the crock-pot earlier and I have some
homemade broth that came off of there so
but I’m going to make this a chicken
broth infused toothbrush and I just
realized why did I dump that in there
but it’s okay because I’m gonna use this
it has no salt in it for flavoring the
dog’s food this week so it’s okay hey
are you guys fighting copper
leave em alone and I’m also gonna take
some of the chicken because hey chicken
is always a great motivator
do I have oh no no no no your undivided
attention no you still Philly down they
done good boy okay I’m gonna try that
now okay okay so I was hoping he’d be a
lot more calm like his little calm mode
of when I was brushing him but ever
since the chicken broth and chicken came
out I just can’t concentrate all right
you sit down yeah so I’m just kind of
try to get his canines right now with
this go boy yeah we’re gonna have to go
real slow with you I can see that they
go good job dog okay so definitely I
don’t see the molars happening today

getting there chicken hell

okay okay so I was literally just
talking about how I go over his head
generally which works out better and I
was doing a head on which probably he
doesn’t like as much so we’re gonna give
that a go guys I’m gonna be honest I
thought this was gonna be a really good
toothbrush but honestly it’s so big for
his mouth
dad this is gonna have to be like stage
2 toothbrush I think we’re gonna have to
go back to like a tiny little toddler
you know toothbrush or very small doggy
one because this he’s like get this big
thing out of my mouth and I get to
copper I understand so we’re gonna leave
the tooth brushing there for tonight
because I don’t want to create any kind
of you know fear or bad experience with
the tooth brushing so we’ll just end it
on a chicken note a chicken note that’s
always a good one and done
