in fact this breed has no real
connection to Australia
in the early 1800s the people called
Vasquez living near the Pyrenees
Mountains in the borderlands between
France and Spain eventually decided to
sail to the Australian continent with
their Pyrenean shepherds there they
refined their dogs by crossing with
Australia’s British import dogs like
Border Collies then they set sail to
California for greener pastures or the
California ranchers assumed that they
were Australian breed thus they got the
misleading name Australian Shepherd
Deoxys got popularity with Western
riding after World War Two and often
featured in rodeos horse shows TV and
Disney movies run Appaloosa running

was a super-talented disc duo of an
Australian Shepherd hyper hank and his
owner Elvin McIntyre who performed the
pre-show of Super Bowl 12 and also spent
some time with President Jimmy Carter in
